About this Item
This leading Barolo estate was founded by Luciano Sandrone in 1978. Luciano’s winemaking journey began at the young age of 14 when he started learning viticulture. He purchased his first vineyard on the Cannubi hill in 1977 with all of his savings and from his first vintage in 1978 until 1999, his wines were produced in his parents’ garage. He built a winery in 1998 where he could carry out his philosophy of producing wines of the utmost quality. Sandrone focuses on only native vines including Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto in the best areas of Barolo.
From the very first bottling in 1985, Luciano always believed in the unique and distinctive potential of the Cannubi hill, and that he wanted to express this potential by way of a separate vinification. This bottling pays homage to the richness and elegance of the favored Cannubi site in the heart of the Barolo. The optimal soil and climate conditions, harvest after harvest, have brought forth a wine that has drawn international attention since its first release.

Critics Ratings
‘Released ten years after the harvest, the 2007 Barolo Cannubi Boschis Sibi et Paucis is drop-dead gorgeous. This is an exciting and seductive wine that wins you over with the first sniff. The Sandrone family recently completed construction to enlarge the winery with a special room for storing bottles from the Sibi et Paucis series that is held apart for an additional ten years of bottle aging. This wine peels back into thick and velvety layers that hit the palate with divine flavor intensity. There is no way to exaggerate how beautifully this wine has come together in unity and purpose over the past decade.’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Aug 2017)
‘You really can't beat the beauty of this Barolo. Rich, enduring and persistent, it offers a long array of blackberry, spice and cola-like aromas. The mouthfeel is spectacular thanks to a velvety texture that is backed by a pretty embroidery of cassis, licorice and spicy ginger flavors. Give this 10–15 more years of aging.’ – Wine Enthusiast, 96/100 (Sep 2012)
‘Aromatic, with floral, red berry and spice notes, joined by a hint of tar and tobacco as this plays out on the finish. Elegant overall, as chewy tannins provide support. The finish turns savory, with a mineral accent. Best from 2014 through 2028.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Apr 2012)
