About this Item
This leading Barolo estate was founded by Luciano Sandrone in 1978. Luciano’s winemaking journey began at the young age of 14 when he started learning viticulture. He purchased his first vineyard on the Cannubi hill in 1977 with all of his savings and from his first vintage in 1978 until 1999, his wines were produced in his parents’ garage. He built a winery in 1998 where he could carry out his philosophy of producing wines of the utmost quality. Sandrone focuses on only native vines including Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto in the best areas of Barolo.
Producer Tasting Notes:
A wine of exceptional measure, with rich and extremely persistent volume and presence. The nose has an impressive block of fleshy black fruit, and the sense of darkness is more apparent in the nose than the color. The wine shows remarkable initial smoothness, good balance and ripe sweetness of the tannin. In the mouth the fruit is soft plum with notes of spices and menthol. Once again, the "assemblaggio" from diverse Barolo cru gave rise to a great expression of balance and power.

‘This stunning wine will be released in September 2017, having benefitted beautifully from an additional ten years of bottle aging at the winery. The 2007 Barolo Le Vigne Sibi et Paucis shows richness and density. It carries its weight with the utmost care, grace and the lightest of footsteps. About one-quarter of the fruit in this vintage was sourced from the Monforte d'Alba village. Le Vigne always represents a careful selection of fruit from various points. The bouquet here is compact and forthcoming with dark fruit and savory spice. The mouthfeel is alive and vibrant. This wine will tick all those hedonistic boxes in your brain.’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 99/100 (Aug 2017)
‘This gorgeous Barolo has a penetrating, dark color and generous aromas of black cherry, tar, leather, tobacco, spice, black truffle and Spanish cedar. The intensity and power is impressive, and the mouthfeel is packed tight with ripe fruit flavors and a bold structure. Hold for 10–20 years to let those tannins evolve.’ – Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Sep 2012)
‘A lush texture frames blackberry, plum and spice flavors, upheld by the dense, steely structure. Well-proportioned, this needs time for the sweet fruit and structure to harmonize. Very long, with a core of cherry lingering. Best from 2016 through 2035.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Apr 2012)
