About this Item

2006 Brunello di Montalcino Vendemmia
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

Conti Costanti is a well-regarded Brunello di Montalcino producer, based just southeast of the eponymous village of Montalcino, in the rolling hills of southern Tuscany, Italy. The estate is predominantly known for its range of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino wines although its portfolio also includes two Grappa di Brunellos. The Costanti family has a long and storied history in the region. It was involved in the formation of the Republic of Siena in 1555, and became a key presence in the area. The Costantis rose to winemaking prominence in the 19th Century when Tito Costanti was one of the first to make wines using the name "Brunello". Today, the winery is presided over by Andrea Costanti, who took over the family-owned business in 1983.

Critics Ratings

‘Offers a mix of cedar, cherry, licorice and tobacco aromas and flavors, all married to a medium-weight, compact frame. Tightens up on the finish, yet there's fine intensity and grip. This should develop well. Best from 2013 through 2025.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Jul 2011)

‘The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a dazzling wine. The aromatics alone are haunting. Sweet red cherries, rosemary, sage, tobacco and cedar are woven into a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. Costanti’s straight Brunello can sometimes lack a little depth in its fruit, but not in 2006. This totally complete, harmonious Brunello is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. It is a stunner. As delicious as the wine is now, it really needs at least a handful of years for the firm tannins to start melting away. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031’ – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 95+/100 (May 2011)
