A blue and white Linn Ware bowl, designed by Thelma van Schalkwyk, 1951
of naval interest, the interior painted with a band of anchors and buoys divided by zig-zag borders, the exterior painted with the inscription 'For it is the Navy wheron under the Good Providence of God, the wealth, the safety, & strength of this Kingdom,' painted LINN WARE, and signed with the artist's initials, and the date1951, 23cm diameter, 10cm high

Notes

On 1st May 1946 the SANF was reconstituted as part of the Union Defence Force. It was renamed 'South African Navy', 1st July 1951
