About this Item
Sakkie Mouton Family Wines - Dawn of the Salty Tongues Syrah 2022 (3 x 750ml)
The Salty Tongues Syrah 2022 is a 100% Syrah red wine from vines located 25 kilometres from the cold Atlantic ocean, in Vredendal on the West Coast of South Africa. The label is a reference to the Rise of the West Coast as a new wine region and showcases divers picking grapes under the ocean, which contributes to the ‘’salty’’ taste on the palette. Grapes were picked early in the morning to preserve freshness, then cooled down before being destemmed with 30% whole bunches into open fermenters the next morning.
Fermentation started after three days of cold soaking and lasted for about two weeks with pump-overs three times a day, fermentation temperature was kept at 27⁰C. After fermentation the wine was racked into one 500L and one 300L barrel for aging for 9 months. Bottled with the addition of a little sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
Saurwein Wines - Chi Riesilng 2023 (6 x 750ml)
Saurwein Chi Riesling was crowned “Possibly the best South African Riesling”, by Jancis Robinson. The grapes are sourced from the cool grape growing climate Elgin and the wine is made in an off-dry style, with minimal intervention by winemaker Jessica Saurwein. Chi means “life force” and Chi stands for CHIUTA (an African rain god). The picturesque vineyard site and Saurwein’s German heritage inspired the creation of this crisp, handcrafted Riesling.
