About this Item

2010 Reserve Red
12 (2 x 6) 750ml

Reyneke is one of 5 Stellenbosch properties to get First Growth status in Tim Atkin's 2017 SA Report. Reyneke farm began in 1863 when it was then named 'Uitzicht', meaning 'view'. It is located overlooking Stellenbosch and False Bay with north, south and east facing slopes. Reyneke is certified organic and biodynamic and follows sustainable practices in everything they do. 'Their wines demonstrate the care they take, not infallible wines, rather honest and personality-driven wines that are distinctive, as much cerebral as sensory experiences,' says Neal Martin.

This 2010 was championed by British wine journalist Jamie Goode, singling it out as one of the best SA wines he has tasted awarding it 96 points.

Critics Ratings

'2010 a remarkable, interesting wine – a spine-tingling blend of syrah/shiraz (whose pure-fruited flavours dominate) with 40% cab to enrich the superb tannic structure & add to the emerging complexity. Freshness & lightness belie 14.5% alcohol. Almost irrestibly compelling now, but will develop.'– Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2014, 4.5*

'The 2010 Reserve Red is 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon - an increase in the Bordeaux variety. The Syrah is foot-crushed whole-cluster with destemmed fruit on top, the Cabernet matured in new barrel and the Syrah in second-fill. The floral elements of the Syrah dominate the bouquet that is very well defined – so much so that you would presuppose there was no Cabernet blended. The palate is very well balanced with a killer line of acidity that cuts through the structured fruit, the Cabernet cedar notes belatedly coming through on the finish. Superb.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 93/100 (2014)
