About this Item
Wedged between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm, is the boutique De Trafford winery. The Trafford family purchased the land in 1976 and a small vineyard was in place by 1983.
The De Trafford Placemat Collection was an initiative undertaken by Syrah boffin David Trafford to showcase the viticultural diversity of the vineyards of the Western Cape within one vintage – 2010. Five different sites were identified for their prowess with Syrah, and 400kg of grapes from each were vinified in exactly the same manner in the De Trafford cellar in order to express the unique individual character of these sites. They are Mullineux (Swartland, Shale), Benguela Cove (Walker Bay Shale), Springfontein (Walker Bay, Limestone ), De Trafford (Stellenbosch, Granite) and Sijnn (Malgas, Shale).
