About this Item

2009 Syrah
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

This is one of South Africa’s most exciting new vineyards. This is the very first Syrah to be released from a vineyard planted in 2004 and is South Africa’s only true continental terroir. At 1500 meters above sea level, situated in Sutherland in the Karoo we find vineyards that are covered in snow in winter and produce a unique structure that sets this wine apart from our coastal wines.

Critics Ratings

Highlighting origin of elegant 09, with ripe cherry tones & herbs, spicy hints from subtle oaking. This was tasted as a preview and could rate higher once bottled.’ Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2011, 3.5*

Clean, expressive, quite Northern Rhone in aromatic profile, darker red fruits spectrum, ripe blackcurrant, preserved plums, Ribena like nose, cassis, intense minty blueberry, spicy oak lending delicate smoky note, earthy, slate minerals, pure fruit but borderline jammy/slight raisin note, captivating.’ Miguel Chan (October 2012), 91/100
