About this Item
This was a once-off collaboration between legendary port producer Dirk Niepoort and South Africa’s most revered winemaker Eben Sadie. Niepoort’s family have a wine history dating back to 1842 but Dirk was the first generation to physically make the wine.
This revolutionary South African wine reflected the style of the Niepoort Douro Charme and was produced with traditional Douro winemaking techniques. It is arguably the first Swartland wine driven by freshness and elegance, picked early and without new oak. Only 600 bottles of each were produced of this Tinta Barocca, Grenache, Carignan and Pinotage blend and Cape Charme is now extremely rare.
The 2009 was a riper expression than the more Pinot Noir-like 2008, but both are evolving beautifully today.
