About this Item
With an eye for excellence and a passion for South Africa Waterford Estate in the Blaauwklippen valley on the slopes of the Helderberg strives to craft exceptional wine vintage after vintage. Here, in the 'golden triangle' of Stellenbosch, renowned for its favourable terroir for producing world class, structured reds, Waterford Estate has grown into a luxury brand for fine wine.
At the entrance of the Blaauwklippen Valley, the Shiraz was Waterford’s most famous wine before the release of the Jem. Interestingly Oprah Winfrey chose the Kevin Arnold Shiraz to accompany the main course at her 50th birthday celebration.

Critics Ratings
‘Benchmark Cape Rhóne-style red (10% mourvédre) 02 named for son ‘Michael Ian’. Strong farmyard whiffs obscure fruit on nose, palate more generous with beef & brambles. Built for long haul. 01 VDG. Cellar at least 5 years. 14% alc.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 2005
‘(includes 10% mourvedre) Ruby-red. Raspberry, black cherry, gunflint, tree bark and eucalyptus on the slightly sauvage nose. Ripe, fat, dense and dry, with flavors of black fruits, violet and gunflint. Nicely sweetened by the 50% American oak component. Finishes with intriguing gunflint and mineral notes. Very impressive for the vintage.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 89+/100 (2005)
