About this Item

2009 Peter Barlow
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Founded in 1682, Rustenberg Estate on the Simonsberg foothills is one of the most historic and picturesque farms in South Africa. The farm was previously split into two estates, until 1945 when industrialist Peter Barlow purchased both farms and reunited them. Rustenberg is family-owned with son of Peter Barlow, Simon, owning the estate and grandson, Murray (2 x Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year) now cellar master.

Their flagship wine is named after Peter Barlow and is a site-specific 100% Cabernet Sauvignon high up on the Simonsberg. It is the oldest vineyard on the estate.

Critics Ratings

The 2009 was been hailed as the best of the decade and is powerfully built, winning International Judges’ Trophy and Gold Medal at the Old Mutual Wine Show.

Matured for 24 months in French oak, 64% new. Intense black in colour. The nose shows dark fruit and attractive oak notes. The palate possesses extraordinary power – great fruit concentration, fresh acidity and firm but fine tannins. The finish, meanwhile, is long and salty. Excellent structure and still very youthful. - 94/100 10-Year-Old Wine Report 2019 - Winemag.co.za
