About this Item
The 4G is an ambitious project with the sole aim of creating SA's ‘First Growth’. It was first produced in 2009, combining the best terroirs of the Cape with the best Old World winemaking expertise. Launch partners included, Giorgio Dalla Cia (ex-Meerlust) and Denis Dubourdieu (Doisy-Daene, Bordeaux).
The G stands for ‘First Growth’ and the 2010 was the first commercial release, stored in a special engraved wooden box.
The “G.” has been holding its own against some of the finest wines in the world, leaving a new mark of luxury wine making from South Africa. Every step in the production is meticulously crafted by hand to create a total piece of art inside and outside of the bottle. A daring Bordeaux/Hermitage-style wine composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The bouquet displays spicy and smoky aromas, over a subtle background of fresh fruit, blueberry and cassis mingling with the scent of Havana tobacco. In a full-bodied attack, a multitude of dark berries and a hint of juniper show tremendous ripeness in a powerful, yet lovely balance. Deeply integrated tannins. Marvellous lengthy finish, offering extraordinary ageing potential.
