About this Item

1997 Pinotage
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Often described as the South African equivalent of a Grand Cru or First Growth, Kanonkop Estate is situated on the Simonsberg mountain slopes on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Owned by the fourth generation Krige family, Abri Beeslaar is their long-term winemaker who has won International Winemaker of the year an incredible 3 times.

The Kanonkop Pinotage has become a consistent flag bearer for the variety in serious clad and is made from old bush vines.

Critics Ratings

97 nudging (5*). Almost opaque purple with the blue edge. Right bananas and full, soft red/yellow plum aromas. Almost sweetish palate impression, with massive fill-ability. Even its youth soft, succulent, with hints of chocolate/vanilla. Long, sweet finish. As easy as it is to drink now, has tremendous potential for bottle development over 8 - 10 years and more.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 1999, 5*
