About this Item
Kaapzicht is a 4th generation family-owned wine estate, located in Stellenbosch. The name Kaapzicht means ‘Cape view’ and is attributed to the beautiful views of Table Mountain and Cape Town which are seen from the farm. The Steytler family has farmed the land since 1946 and today, brothers Danie and George own the 190-hectare estate. Located on the Bottelary hill, the farm experiences a mild climate with cool sea breezes and consists of old, weathered granite soils.
The 2001 vintage marked Danie Steytler Sr’s 2 decades as Kaapzicht winemaker. The 2001 Pinotage won a raft of awards including a Platter’s Guide 5* award and Gold at the 2004 Juliet Cullinan Wine Connoisseurs Awards.

Critics Ratings
‘Since maiden 98, medalled ‘super reserve’ & pretender to Cape’s Pinotage crown. 01 (5*) a perfect Pinotage: caramel nose; rich, ripe fruit; excellent structure with round, ripe tannins; massively built (15.3% alc) but light-textured. 100% new Fr oak, 12 months. Showpiece for a sometimes maligned grape’s best qualities. From +-30-yr-old single vineyard.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2004, 5*
