'One of a quintet of very different shiraz's. This is from estate's best site - dry gravelly, strewn with koffieklip ('coffee stones') - yielding appropriately mineral, savoury, elegant shiraz. 08 is winemaking at its apogee; ethereal, spicy, very polished, with powerful fullness of flavour.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2013, 4.5*
'The source of this impressively, tightly-wound Syrah is "stone, not soil" according to winemaker Carl Schultz. It's a dense, even slightly reticent wine with lots of power in reserve, firm tannins, smoky, savoury oak and ripe, chocolate and blackberry fruit flavours. The stony minerality kicks in on the finish. Drink 2015-20' - Tim Atkin SA Wine Report 2013, 94/100
