About this Item
Buitenverwachting is one of the historical jewels in the crown of South Africa’s oldest wine region, Constantia, just outside of Cape Town. Dating back to 1796, this beautiful property is currently owned by the Maack family who have been putting quality and legacy at the forefront of their stewardship of the farm and its wines.
Although the valley is chiefly known for its sweets and complex Sauvignons, the Christine is widely revered and awarded for its elegance, structure and age-worthiness.

Critics Ratings
‘For over a decade, squarely in the vanguard of SA claret blends pursuing international form and class. Individual, neither new wave nor Old World, rather its own style. Intense competition annually for allocation. 95 swathed in quiet, unmistakable class… silky cassis/blackberry fruit, dark choc/plum notes on measured oak palate, firm tannic grip finishes with style. Marvellous structure, discretely brilliant balance.’ – Platter's SA Wine Guide 2001, 4.5*
