About this Item
Founded in 1988 by the charismatic and universally admired Beyers Truter, known as the father of Pinotage for his abiding championing of the proudly South African grape, and chief winemaker at Kanonkop Estate from 1981 to 2003. Beyers is a member of the Cape Winemakers Guild, has been nominated for the IWC Wine Personality of the Year, and won the Robert Mondavi award for World Winemaker of the year in 1991. He has also won South African Wine Producer of the Year 2003, IWSC.
Named after Beyers' trusty canine companion, Diesel proudly features on the elegant label that is now well established as one of the top modern expressions of the variety, confirmed by multiple accolades and awards.

Critics Ratings
‘In memory of beloved dog, elegantly featured on front label; ‘06 initially oaky, opens to gorgeous ripe mulberry, raspberry melange. 18 mths oak, 66% new. WO Bottelary. Superb ‘07 more influenced by variety’s Pinot parent. Both well structured, pliant, plush fruit belies ageability.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2010, 5*
