About this Item
KWV Tawny Port 1939 - KWV has been a traditional mainstay of the South African wine scene for decades. Founded in the same year Nelson Mandela was born, KWV has seen how the SA wine industry has changed over the years. The tawny-styled KWV ports from the 20s, 30s and 40s have aged beautifully.
Monis Collector's Port 1948 - Established in 1906, Monis is the Cape’s oldest fortified brand, a record R68 000 was paid for a single case of 6 x 750 ml bottles of Monis Collectors Port 1948, at the 2011 Nederburg Auction. Only 5,000 bottles were produced and this is another legendary SA wine. Limited Edition No 3940.

KWV Tawny Port 1939
‘Produced from the Boberg region, this is a fully mature but ethereal port with wafts of cold coffee, nuts and spice, cloaked in sweet fruit. A delight. Roland Peens 93 points (2018)
‘Monis Collector's Port 1948
Defined, fresh and detailed, it astounded us with waves of complexity wafting from the glass: candied figs, melon rind, nuts, molasses and a touch of cold coffee. The palate is rich, but not sticky while the finish is deep, spicy and delicious! George Spies was working at Monis in the ‘60s; did he perhaps make this immortal legend too?’ - Roland Peens (3 August 2015)
‘Excellent, old wood-aged Port, vintage-dated 1948, of which three issues have been made. Their labels reproduce rare old South African stamps.’- Dave Hughes, Wine Buyer’s Guide 1993 edition. 4*
