About this Item
The history of Mont Blois Wine Estate and the Bruwer Family begins in 1869 when the first farm was bought. The farm is named after the picturesque town of Blois in the Loire where the Bruwer’s came from. Owner Ernst Bruwer took over from his Grandfather Ernst Bruwer Snr. He believed in sustainable farming and that older vineyards should be cared for.

Critics Ratings
Mont Blois Estate White Muscadel 1985
‘1985 tawny coloured, sun-burned apricot smells in this fortified dessert; on syrupy side, without the elegance of previous vintages. Straight Superior. Frequent international awards.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 1989, 4*
Gold medal Vinexpo, Bordeaux 1989
Mont Blois Estate White Muscadel 1987
‘1987 deep peach colour, prolific tropical fruit on the nose. Voluptuous, syrupy (in ‘85 Pieter Bruwer deliberately returned to traditional, weightier style), perhaps lacking in acidity but delicious big dessert wine.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 1991, 4*
