Joshua Miles was born in the Western Cape. He studied Fine Arts at UCT where he received the Michaelis prize for best student in his final year. Joshua is one of those rare artists who has managed to make a living solely from his art. He spent many years painting oil on canvas but his passion has always been for reduction block printmaking. Joshua is a landscape artist who loves to capture the play of light on the landscape. He is inspired by the impressionist style of mark-making and the Japanese tradition of selective rolling, both of which are evident in his work.
