About this Item
Notes
Casts of this work conceived by Sydney Kumalo in 1965 are extremely rare and none has ever been offered for sale on auction in South Africa before. After obtaining the copyright from Egon Guenther, the Grosvenor Gallery in London planned an edition of 10, although only 7 appear to have actually been cast, and of those, the current whereabouts of only 3 is known.
With thanks to Gavin Watkins for assistance with cataloguing this lot.
