Sir Edwin Lutyens was a highly-regarded architect, most well-known for his iconic country houses, public buildings and war memorials. He collaborated with Sir Herbert Baker on projects in New Delhi, the national capital territory of India, and designed the original building of the Johannesburg Art Gallery.
Provenance
JM Solomon worked for the architect Herbert Baker. The Gordon Leith Estate donated this work to John Fassler, former Head of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand. Ownership thence by descent.
