Critics Ratings
‘Pressed violet, black raspberry, cherry and mulberry all form the bouquet of this attractive red, with some delicate scents of church incense and sweet baking spice, like whole nutmeg and allspice, in the background. It's smooth and plush on the palate, with moderate tannins and ripe berry flavors that produce a crushed-satin texture and leave an enduring impression.’ – Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Sep 2020)
‘Combines ripeness & intensity with purity & finesse. 2016 complex black fruit, dab cab franc in play, authoritative tannin structure from 18 months new oak. As with 2015 (92 pts), not for the impatient: decant in youth but ideally keep 6+ years.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (94/100)
‘One of two region-specific Cabernets in the Boekenhoutskloof line up, this is the more austere and focused of the pair. Intensely coloured, with refined oak handling, black cherry and cassis fruit and the concentration to age further in bottle. 2020-28’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 94/100
