Critics Ratings
'Classically styled 2017 eases onto the palate with poise and grace, revealing layers of flavours - cooked red berries, leather, truffles, tobacco - all bound together by restrained, supportive oak (37% new). Combo of wholebunch and destemmed fruit gives crunchy texture to lengthy finish.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (93/100)
'Continuing the subtle changes that have occurred under Emul Ross, the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir is now a worthy stable mate for the estate's Chardonnay. This shows the acidity of the 2017 vintage, with a fine perfume of wild strawberry and dried mushroom, subtle wood and a dense, complex, savoury finish. 2019-27.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 95/100
'Bright and youthful red colour and with wood a little more evident on the nose, this still needs another six months or so to fully integrate. Very fine, ripe, tannins on the palate, these are sweet and typically Pinot in character. There is plenty of fleshy dark fruit on the palate in this 2017 with crisp acidity providing freshness to the long finish. Perhaps not quite as much depth of flavour here but still a very refined Pinot Noir.' - Andy Howard MW, Decanter,
