About this Item

2011 Family Vineyards Pinot Noir
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Based in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, it is a family affair at Newton Johnson. Started by Cape Wine Master, Dave and his wife, Felicity, sons Bevan and Gordon took over the reins in the mid-2000s, joined today by Gordon’s wife Nadia. Today Newton Johnson is world-famous for their fine Chardonnays and Pinot Noir. Along with multiple accolades, the Pinot Noir has one of the longest consecutive Platter 5 Stars in history.

Critics Ratings

‘Was ‘Domaine’. Pure-fruited 2011 more depth, complexity than Elgin version (and brick rather than crimson). Vital structure so harmonious as to be near-invisible, but allows flavours to linger long. Delicious now, but few years will add profundity, smooth edges.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2013, 5*

‘It’s the sheer drinkability of the Pinot Noirs that’s so appealing from this impressive cool climate operation. Subtle, fresh and nuanced, with attractive raspberry and wild strawberry fruit and a touch of pepper spice, this is subtle and fine with a delicate, refreshing finish.’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2013, 94/100
