About this Item
Two 'Blade' electrical pendant lights, pierced, designed by Xavier Clarisse
vegetable tanned leather with brass closure, E27 globes and ceiling cap.
Notes
These are the first two pieces in a special edition of the Blade lights. Each piece is worked by hand by the artist. The form of the original Blade light is 'designed by nature' in that it follows the form of a furled leaf. The pierced Blade lights take this theme a step further by exploring the effects of defoliation, weather and decay. The holes punched through the leather become an interesting play in light diffusion and add a new sculptural dimension (Artist's statement, September 2019).
The proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the KZNSA (KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts).
