Critics Ratings
‘Well-built, offering a dark, brooding core of currant preserves, plum pâte de fruit and pastis, with a backdrop of roasted apple wood and charcoal that should meld nicely with the fruit over time. A lingering iron accent on the finish adds extra length and definition. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (2013)
‘(a Bordeaux blend based on 68% cabernet sauvignon): Bright ruby-red. Wonderfully aromatic perfume of blackcurrant, licorice, dark chocolate and spicy oak, lifted by a violet topnote. Juicy and impressively concentrated, with sweet red berry, licorice and floral flavors nicely framed and enlivened by bright acidity. Finishes firmly tannic, fresh and long. This was aged for two years in all new French oak but the wood here is merely another element of the wine's complexity. Winemaker: Abrie Beeslaar.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92/100 (Sep 2013)
