About this Item

2010 CWG Cabernet Sauvignon
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Le Riche was founded in 1996 by Etienne le Riche, one of the founding members of the Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG). Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, it is now run by Etienne’s son, Christo and daughter, Yvonne. Le Riche are known for premium red wines in a classic South African style. Grapes are selected from top growers in Stellenbosch, coming from mainly two soil types – decomposed granite soils and sandy gravel. The winemaking approach is traditionally simplistic, yet innovative.

Critics Ratings

‘Single-vineyard bottling. Lusciously ripe 2010 more oaky in youth than other Reserve, & a little more intense, muscular, burly & less prettily charming. Power (15+% alcohol) & firm structure well balanced by fruit. Impressive now, should mature well.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 4.5* (2014)

‘(15% alcohol; 100% cabernet sauvignon): Bright, medium ruby-red. Pungent dark cherry, woodsmoke and fynbos aromas and flavors are accented by a violet high note. Dense and tactile but also juicy and suave, with lovely spicy lift contributing to the wine's very firm impression. This seamless, youthful cabernet finishes with a broad, fine dusting of tannins and very good length. Winemaker: Etienne le Riche.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Sep 2013)
