Notes
Holden Manz Big G is the estate’s signature wine named after one of the owners Gerard Holden. A typical left bank Bordeaux styled blend this wine includes 70% cabernet sauvignon, 19% cabernet franc and 9% merlot. Aged in 30% new French oak barrels for 22 months. Plenty of cassis, dark fruits, pencil shavings, a hint of herbaceousness – great with your favourite steak!
Holden Manz Barrel Fermented Chardonnay uses grapes from cool climate sites – one high on the Simonsberg and the other next to the ocean at False Bay. Once pressed the juice is transferred to French oak barrels, 45% new, to undergo wild fermentation. The wine is kept on the fine lees in barrel for 6 months with regular batonnage. Approximately 20% of this wine went through secondary/malolactic fermentation.
The Holden Manz Hiro Rosé is named after the owners’ daughter and is a blend of grenache noir and cinsault. 20% of the wine was exposed to third fill barrels for 3 months. A sublime rosé experience!
