Guigal Côtes du Rhône 1998
‘Red-ruby color. Aromas of black fruits, pepper and leather. Silky, fresh and intensely flavored, with ripe Syrah notes of dark berries, leather and tobacco complicated by suggestions of Provençal herbs. Persistent and firm on the finish. Serious juice thanks to the high percentage of Syrah, and a great value.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Jan 2001)
Guigal Côtes du Rhône 2003
'Tight now, this is a fairly structured Côtes du Rhône, with muscular black cherry and toast flavors followed by tar, vanilla and tobacco on the finish. Needs brief cellaring to round into form.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Sept 2005)
Guigal Côtes du Rhône 2004
'Deep, bright red. Fresh strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with sexy violet and rose accents. Sweet red berry flavors are sharpened by notes of cracked pepper and lifted with tangy minerality. Finishes firm and chewy, with a bright redcurrant note. Suave and focused for the category, as usual. This cuvée has a good track record for aging.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous (Jan 2007)
Guigal Gigondas 1998
'A blend of 45% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 25% Syrah. Medium ruby-red. Flamboyantly roasted aromas of pruneau, leather, game, tree bark and damp earth. Superripe and liqueur-like, with impressive volume and rustic flavors of black cherry, roasted berries and charred meat. Finishes with big, broad, thoroughly ripe tannins. Impressive, and terrific value.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 91/100 (Jan 2002)
Guigal Gigondas 2003
'Mature, but in no danger of senility, Guigal's 2003 Gigondas is a full-bodied, creamy-textured wine that reflects the ripeness of the vintage. Garrigue and leather notes accent black cherries, while the long, spicy finish adds hints of coffee and caramel.' - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, 90/100 (Nov 2006)
