About this Item
In 1912, Domaine de la Charbonnière was bought by Eugène Maret for his wife, who was a winemaker's daughter in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Passed on to their son, Fernand Maret, and then on to Fernand’s son and two granddaughters – Michel, Caroline and Véronique – the fourth generation custodians continue the work set up by their forefathers to produce well-balanced and elegant wines. The estate holds 19 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 6 hectares of AOP Vacqueyras and 2 hectares of AOP Côtes du Rhône. ‘One of my favorite estates in the southern Rhône, Domaine de la Charbonnière is run with great passion and enthusiasm,’ wrote Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate.

Critics Ratings
‘A fleshy, mouth-filling style, with ample layers of plum, fig, anise and boysenberry preserves, laced with bittersweet ganache and maduro tobacco on the finish. Very solid, with latent grip.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Nov 2011)
‘Vivid purple. Cherry and dark berries on the highly fragrant nose. Suave and expansive, with impressive depth to its ripe dark fruit flavors, which are braced by tangy minerality. Becomes spicier with air and finishes with impressive clarity, sappiness and length. 60% Grenache, 39% Syrah and 1% Counoise.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 92/100 (Jan 2012)
