About this Item
La Ferme du Mont, a relatively young estate and wine negociant business, was established somewhat recently by Stephane Vedeau. While the company owns vines in the region, La Ferme du Mont supplements their production with rented vineyards and bought-in grapes from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They produce, bottle and sell both blanc and rouge wines from across the Southern Rhône, including Côtes du Rhône, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. The flagship, and most sought-after, wine in the La Ferme du Mont range is their Côtes Capelan blend, which is made using mostly old-vine Grenache, from vines between 75 – 100 years old of age.

Critics Ratings
‘The dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Côtes Capelan is an outrageously rich, complex wine exhibiting beautiful creme de cassis, kirsch, licorice, forest floor, and spring flower-like aromas. It is fresh, voluptuous, and opulent in the mouth, but the fresh acids and vibrancy give it exceptional precision as well as a refreshing style despite its weight, richness, and length. This is a superb, young Châteauneuf-du-Pape from an up-and-coming star of the appellation. Give it 1-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following two decades.’ - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Oct 2009)
‘Very dense and rich and commanding. Majestic wine! A hint of medicinal qualities, but not aggressively so. Great beginning, middle and end. Really very interesting indeed. Smooth and subtle – though needs a bit of time. Grenache Noir 80%, Syrah 10%, Mourvèdre 10%. No oak! Another very successful wine from this newcomer from the Côtes Capelan.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 19/20 (Dec 2008)
