Case of three different vintages of the Rubaiyat 2012, 2014 and 2015
This Bordeaux style of wine has a deep, intense, dark, ruby-red colour. The nose is filled with layers of red and black fruit, violets, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and vanilla characters. These flavours carry through on the palate where there is a good balance of ripe fruits and firm tannin. The mouthfeel is well structured with a broad mid palate and lengthy finish. A devotee of Bordeaux, Sir David Graaff’s long-time dream of producing a wine in this style, came to fruition in 2006 with the launch of De Grendel Rubaiyat. Each vintage since then bears testament of Sir David’s philosophical side – featuring a different quatrain from Omar Khayyam’s The Rubaiyat, ruminating life’s great questions. Only 80 of these bottles have been released for special occasions.
