Critics Ratings
‘SA/US joint venture, aiming for best of both worlds. Mission accomplished in generous yet refined 05; beautifully balanced, drier than pvs; fresher, more savoury edge to rich texture. Lifted, livened by dash viognier. Western Cape vineyards.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 4*
‘Plush and forward, with a velvety texture and layers of mocha, blackberry, graphite and licorice all gliding through the seamless finish. There's also fine length, and this might put on some more weight with cellaring.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (May 2008)
‘Good dark red-ruby. Liqueur-like raspberry and dark chocolate aromas lifted by an exotic suggestion of stone fruits suggesting a bit of viognier. Lush, broad and seamless, but more serious than the 2004 version and not quite as sweet or exotic in spite of its very ripe character. This is a bit more suave and subtle. Finishes with sweet tannins and lovely length.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Mar 2009)
