cf. Sotheby's, London, Antique and Contemporary Jewels, 13 June 2007, Lot 216, where a similar ring, made by Cartier in 1995, was sold. According to the vendor, The Countess of Kenmare, her mother, commissioned Cartier to make this ring for her on the occassion of her engagement to Frank O'Neill, in 1948.
