Notes

Rivierlandskap, possibly the Palmiet river, displays Naudé’s prowess at depicting river landscapes. In the foreground one sees a profusion of colours, sparking from the dramatically lit wild flowers. The river, a ribbon of blue, meanders through the middle ground leading the viewer’s eye to the dark green hills in the distance. The composition conveys the picturesque scene with quiet grandeur.
