the bulbous body flanked by two loop handles, the shoulder decorated with four circular 'rice grain' medallions, 40cm high
Notes
In the late Neolithic period and early Bronze Age, China's northwestern province of Gansu was home to the Majiayao culture. Pottery from this period was used in a variety of contexts, however the large majority of existing artefacts seem to have been used within the context of funerary burials.
Provenance
This lot is accompanied by a thermoluminescence certificate of authenticity from Oxford Authentication Ltd, dated 17 January 2005.
