Notes
The reign of the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi Emperor is characterised by a spectacular renaissance of the production of porcelain, seen in the quality of the monochrome glazes, the fine painted decoration of enamels, and the variety and brightness of cobalt in the blue and white wares. There was very little disruption to the production of blue and white wares between the overthrow of the Ming Dynasty and the establishment of the Manchus Qing Dynasty in 1644. The style of the underglazed blue painting gradually became less bold and more refined.
