Notes
'This artwork captures a time in the apartheid era when Tutu led his people as a priest, friend, and man of the people. I was very inspired by a quote that I read about 'difference' and that differences between people shouldn't separate and alienate us, "We are different precisely in order to realize our need of one another".' -Hlavutelo Ngobeni
Born in Thomo village, Limpopo, Hlavutelo Ngobeni was encouraged from a young age, particularly by her school teacher, to follow her passion for the arts. Ngobeni is currently doing workplace training in the pro-shop at Artist Proof Studio. Phillemon Hlungwani, a renowned artist and APS alumnus, has been an instrumental influence on the artist's printmaking.
