Notes
Based on a fine art photographic portrait by Dana Gluckstein.
Roger J Carter is influenced by the graffiti and street art he experienced as a teenager in the late eighties in Chicago, IL, USA. The enormity of the works and the carefree expression of colour displayed a means by which someone could gain the attention desired by every kid. This rebellious idea of searching for identity through the use of markers and spray paint fuelled Carter’s imagination. He has experimented with many unusual mediums – vintage records, chess pieces – to create mixed-media portraiture and is currently using toy plastic soldiers. Carter has participated in a number of exhibitions in Chicago and is sought out by collectors in both the USA and abroad.
Please note: The current lot is in the USA, and has not been examined first-hand by Strauss & Co. Shipping from the USA is at the buyer's expense.
