About this Item
At more than 3,200 feet above sea level within the magical Cederberg Wilderness Area, Cederberg Private Cellar is South Africa’s highest vineyard. The Nieuwoudt family have been farming in the Cederberg mountain for five generations, with vines planted as early as 1973, but the brand has been energetically driven to become one of SA wine's real success stories by David Nieuwoudt, now at the helm. Thanks to the isolation of the vineyards and the extreme winters, the vineyards are largely virus and disease free. David has single handedly established an enviable terroir identity for the Cederberg, while simultaneously building other successful, pioneering wine ventures, notably Ghost Corner in the region of Elim.

Critics Ratings
'What a joy! 2012 is harmonious & juicy, for lovers of a serious fruit-driven style. Rounded, not weighty, spicy vanilla oak (French & American) & tobacco smoke balancing pristine fruit.' - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2015, 4*
'This still has heft, with layers of boysenberry and raspberry confiture stretching out nicely while lively anise, black tea and roasted apple wood notes fill in on the finish. Features a bright violet hint for added range and length. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Feb 2016)
