About this Item
The Foundry Wine Collection was established on a shoestring budget in 2001 by Chris Williams and his great friend James Reid. The brand has gained numerous accolades and awards since 2001. The wines are site specific, terroir defined wines, with the aim of producing wines that both Chris and James enjoy drinking.
Personal notes from the winemaker
'The Pavanee Syrah 2004 was made exclusively for Wine Cellar - it was a trial run to see if the Stellenbosch Cuvee would be complete on it's own. The Pavanne Syrah is a single vineyard wine, because I am a bit of a purist at heart. All the fruit for the Pavanne came from Stellenbosch, while my regular bottling was about 75 % Stellenbosch, 25 % Agter Paarl. The Pavanne is finer, the regular more Beefy and Rhone like.' - Chris Williams

Critics Ratings
'Quite closed on the nose at first however did open up with nice Rhoney-pepper and buckets of fruit. A little perfumed too. Perhaps riper than I would have thought. The brambly fruit explodes in the mouth. Nice acid. Nice use of oak. Bigger than I would have thought. Prodigious concentration and length. It’s a real fruit-wine verses an oak-and-tannin which many wines are.' - Roland Peens, 2008
