About this Item

2012 Côte Rôtie
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings

‘Deep ruby. Complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, incense, violet and cracked pepper, along with a vibrant mineral overtone. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering intense blackberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that stretch out slowly with air. This concentrated yet lively Côte-Rôtie finishes with superb clarity and even tannins.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 94/100 (Feb 2015)

‘Light and silky – such a change from further south! Gorgeously round and supple but peppery scented and with a nice dry kick on the end.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Dec 2015)
