About this Item
Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings
‘So distinctive, with fresh bay leaf, leather, pepper and tobacco notes leading the way, followed by mulled plum, currant and cherry fruit. Lots of bitter cherry and charred apple wood drive through the very long finish, which is thoroughly mouthwatering thanks to its acidity. Best from 2013 through 2025.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (2012)
‘Deep ruby. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, kirsch, licorice, violet and smoky Indian spices. Firm and intense, with alluring sweetness and fleshiness to the red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors. The very fine tannins quickly fade into the high-pitched fruit on the smoky, minerally back end. This is very pretty and impressively complex right now; I'd drink it before the less-evolved 2006.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 93/100 (Jan 2010)
