About this Item
In 1992, the late Giulio Bertrand retired to South Africa from Italy and bought the historic Morgenster farm on the slopes of the Schaapenberg, which dates back to 1711. Specialising in long-ageing Bordeaux-style reds, the director of Cheval Blanc, Pierre Luton, was hired as the consultant.

Critics Ratings
‘Old-World-style flagship with noble bearing & sense of seamless completeness. 05 85% merlot with cab, awesome integration of fruit, savoury oak & tannic grip. 04 (69% merlot, cabernet sauvignon & cabernet franc) was perfumed, plush & persistent.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 5* (2009)
‘Gentle spiced nose, red berries and cedary. It tastes more evolved and certainly looser, less tension and definition than the 2003. A hint of leather and dried fruit. Warm and mellifluous.’ – Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Sep 2012)
