About this Item
Based in Meursault, between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, Henri Boillot is at the epicentre of great winemaking. The Boillots have been tending vines and making wines since 1885. Henri joined in 1975, bought out his siblings in 2005 and his son Guillaume joined in 2008. It totals 19 hectares, planted almost equally to red and white. Included herein, are 4 hectares of the famous monopole vineyard Clos de la Mouchère, which has developed a cult following. In a very short space of time, they have built an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of their Burgundies, it is no surprise that Allen Meadows thinks this superstar producer ‘has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white Burgundy today’.

Critics Ratings
‘This was noticeably reduced and I strongly advise decanting it if you're going to try an example young. By contrast there is good vivacity to the detailed and pure middle weight flavors that are shaped by extremely fine tannins that are notably more structured than the villages. At present, the flavor profile is quite compact and firm and this will require at least 10 years to be at its best and 12 would not surprise me. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91/100 (Apr 2012)
‘The 2010 Volnay Les Fremiets is impressive for its sheer richness and concentration. Dark cherries, cola, mocha, licorice and tar literally explode from the glass in this full-bodied, opulent Burgundy. Even with its super-ripe, almost extreme expression of fruit, there is more than enough minerality to provide balance. The Fremiets is not for the faint of heart, but it is a beautiful wine in its own way. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.’ – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 90-92/100 (Feb 2012)
