Critics Ratings

'Full colour. Still very closed. Very good structure. Rich and concentrated. Lots of dimension and class. Lovely fruit. Very fine.' - Clive Coats MW, Decanter.com, 95/100 (Mar 2018)

'A discreet touch of wood spice adds aromatic breadth to the earthy and reserved red berry fruit nose that also offers up a suggestion of the sauvage that carries over to the rich, powerful and admirably concentrated big-bodied flavors that culminate in an impressively long, energetic and youthfully austere finish. This is a big and muscular but not rustic example that will require plenty of cellar time, in fact so much so that I have extended my expected drinking window as a result.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 95/100 (Jan 2012)

'Vibrant aromas of black cherry, licorice and minerals. Seamless, sappy and explosive on the palate, conveying an impression of silkiness without weight. Really explosive mouthfilling perfume here, even if there's plenty in reserve for a long and positive evolution in bottle. The wonderfully fresh, mounting finish features substantial dusty tannins and resounding black cherry and dark chocolate flavors. "The 2009s are to drink anytime," noted Grivot. "Even this Clos Vougeot would be great with grilled beef now." A great vintage for this bottling, which is partly from vines located in the so-so northeast corner of this vineyard.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 95/100 (Mar 2012)

'Muscular and rigid, exhibiting a well of black cherry, currant and spice flavors, this red gains in both freshness and elegance from attack to finish. Shuts down in the end, with strong tannins and a tactile sensation. Be patient. Best from 2017 through 2035.' - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Jun 2012)
