A Japanese cloisonné enamel dish, Meiji period, 1868-1912
circular, decorated to the centre with a pair of cranes amongst peony blooms and aquatic plants, enclosed by a stylised flowerhead border, the reverse enamelled in turquoise, 30cm diameter; and another, the centre enamelled with a pair of sparrows before bamboo against a turquoise ground enclosed by stylised foliate borders, the reverse enamelled in turquoise, minor restoration to the reverse, 30cm diameter
