About this Item
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Jacques Priuer daomine. Beginning in the late 1800s and continuing into the 20th Century, the family began investing in viticulture and purchasing vineyards, establishing vines in what have become some of the most sought after appellations in the Côte d'Or.
This lot consists of the following wines:
Jacques Prieur Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 1996

Jacques Prieur Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 1996
‘A complex and elegant aromatic profile has now turned largely, if not completely, secondary with relatively concentrated medium weight flavors that are minerally, pure and beautifully detailed and while the acidity of the '96 vintage is present, it is not dominant and thus does not attenuate the otherwise long and delicious finish. There is good mid-palate density in the context of a vintage that was not naturally dense. Overall, a lovely effort that is very Bressandes in character and one that is drinking perfectly now.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91/100 (Feb 2010)
‘Sensational. Ultrasmooth, with classy tannins that melt in the mouth. Immensely ripe yet elegant in structure, this full-bodied, royal '96 brims with cassis, wild berry, toasted spice, chocolate, wet earth and mineral nuances that unfold their charisma to a seductive finish.’ - Per-Henrik Mansson, Wine Spectator, 98/100 (May 1999)
Jacques Prieur Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 1996
‘Vibrant black cherry and wild raspberry notes are followed by some smoky oak accents in this full-bodied, rich, thick and intensely toasted wine. Ripe, refined tannins offer a mineral-laden, palate-coating sensation. Long finish. Best after 2005. 415 cases made.’ - Per-Henrik Mansson, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Sept 1998
