About this Item
Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy’s star properties and is known for its concentrated, rich and serious wines. Until 30 years ago, most of the domaine's vineyards were leased out and the wine was sold to négociants. The domaine only began bottling in 1985 and the various sharecropping agreements, including one with Henri Jayer, have all come to an end. Today, Jean-Nicolas Méo and Christian Faurois, a former sharecropper turned right-hand man, manage the domaine and produce some of the Côte d'Or’s finest wines. The domaine now proudly holds 2.5 hectares of Grands Crus and 8 hectares in some of the finest Premier Cru sites in Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically.

Critics Ratings
'Medium-deep red ruby. Perfumed aromas of black cherry and flowers. Fine grained and vibrant in the mouth, with nicely delinated flavors of black fruits, licorice and orange peel. Rich but dry and classic, with lovely balancing acidity and a very long finish. Built to age.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92/100 (Mar 2005)
‘A discreet background touch of wood frames an earthy, slightly gamy nose that leads to ripe, rich, full-bodied and moderately dense flavors that display the classic young Clos de Vougeot quality of an austere backward finish. I like the tannins here as they're finer than usual and this finishes with real freshness and verve. The best Méo Clos de Vougeot since the spectacular '85 and every bit as good as the '05 if distinctly different in character.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 93/100 (Aug 2015)
‘Concentrated black cherry and black currant aromas and flavors mark this rich, full-bodied Pinot, whose purity of fruit is matched by a phalanx of ripe, integrated tannins. The flavor intensity is almost kirschlike. Fine length, but needs time to resolve its tannins.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Dec 2004)
